๐Ÿ Beeton Stingers – Parent FAQ

Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page! Whether you're brand new to hockey or returning for another season, we hope this page helps answer the most common questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

๐Ÿ“… What age division should my child register for?

Divisions are based on your child’s year of birth. Players must be under the division age within the current calendar year.
Example: Players in U7 must not turn 7 before December 31, 2025.

When registering online, the portal will automatically offer the appropriate division based on your child’s date of birth.
Still unsure? Contact our Registrar and we’ll help guide you.

โณ When is registration due?

Registration remains open until divisions are full — but spots go quickly!

  • A 20% deposit is required at the time of registration

  • You can use our 5-payment plan to spread the cost over summer and fall

  • All fees must be paid in full by November 15 for players to participate

๐Ÿ’ What league do the Beeton Stingers play in?

We are proud members of the Simcoe Region Local League (SRLL) — a community-focused league with teams from across Simcoe and York Region. The league emphasizes development, sportsmanship, and fair play.

๐Ÿ“ Where are games and practices held?

  • Home games and practices: Beeton Memorial Arena

  • Away games: Local rinks throughout the SRLL region (typically within 30 minutes)

๐Ÿ—“ When does the season start and end?

The season typically runs from early October to late March.
Schedules are finalized in late September and shared by your coaching staff.

โฐ When are practices and games scheduled?

  • U5 (Beginners): 1 hour/week on weekends

  • U7–U9: 1–2 sessions per week (games and practices)

  • U11–U21: Typically 1 practice and 1 game per week

Note: Ice times and game days vary by division and team.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Can my child play with their friends?

We do our best to accommodate friend requests, especially for younger divisions.
If we have multiple teams in a division, teams must be formed according to SRLL balancing rules to ensure fair play. Requests are not guaranteed.

โš–๏ธ What are the SRLL balancing rules?

In the event we have more than 1 team per age division, these teams must be within a certain winning percentage of each other during different points in the season. To keep competition fair and fun, players will be evaluated through development skates and exhibition games early in the season and placed on balanced teams. Some players may be moved between teams to balance skill levels across the league.

๐Ÿงข What equipment does my child need?

All players must be fully equipped with CSA-approved hockey gear, including:

  • Helmet with full cage

  • Shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves

  • Hockey pants, shin pads, neck guard, mouth guard, protective cup

  • Skates and a hockey stick

Goalie equipment is provided for U7 and U9. Goalie rental is available for U11–U21.

๐Ÿฅ… Do you offer discounts or programs for goalies?

Yes! To support goalie development:

  • 50% off registration for rostered goalies in U11 to U21
(Select “Goalie Registration” in the online store)

  • Goalie Equipment Rental Program for U11 to U21
(Available free of charge for the 2025–26 season)

๐Ÿ”„ What about goalie support for U7 and U9?

We encourage goalie rotation at the U7 and U9 levels so every child has a chance to try the position.

  • Goalie gear is provided by the association

  • Players rotate throughout the year to explore the role

  • Those showing interest can move into a full-time goalie role in later years
