Jim Rutherford Born in Beeton, Feb 17th, 1949
Jim was selected in the first round of the 1969 NHL Draft Pick. He was selected in the 10th position and picked up by the Detroit Red Wings.
Jim’s NHL debut occurred on October 23, 1970 versus the Buffalo Sabres.
Management Career: Named President and General Manager of Hartford Whalers on June 28, 1994. The team was relocated to Carolina in 1997, where he remained in position into the 2005-2006 season. As General Manager for the Carolina Hurricanes he was with them through two Stanley Cup Championships 2002 and 2006. He left Carolina for Pittsburgh in 2014.
As General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins Jim has won back to back Stanley cups for 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
